July 22, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Empowered patient chat with Richard Kreis

READ FULL TRANSCRIPT

Join Richard Kreis, Intake.me Patient Advisor, as he shares ways for caregivers and patients to seek the support they need at critical times. Richard will be leading this discussion and providing valuables resources to support you and your loved ones. Don’t miss this special chat.

richardRichard is a tri-fecta caregiver and a Certified Caregiving Consultant. He cares for his mother with heart and lung issues, co-cares for his brother in-law who lives with him and his wife and is dealing with epilepsy, and is also a patient himself suffering from chronic back pain. Richard’s blog Pick Your Pain/iCareTalk covers issues he runs into in the health care system and how to deal with them using humor. His tag line is “Pain without Humor is just Painful.”

Richard’s latest projects include iCareConsulting, iCareRadio and a new book series in collaboration with other caregivers called 365 Caregiving Tips. Richard is also an inventor currently collaborating on a dementia care device/tracker.

We’ll be giving away 2 copies of A Journal of Care, 3 Month Version along with a copy of Richard’s book, 365 Caregiving Tips: Practical Tips from Everyday Caregivers during that chat. So we’ll have 2 winners. Just tweet during that chat with hashtag #patientchat to be entered to win.

Guiding our discussion will be the following Topic (T:) Questions:

T1: Following a diagnosis, what are some of the main areas where help is needed?
T2: What are your go-to places for tracking down answers as a patient or caregiver? What org’s/websites have you found useful?
T3: There are a number of government sites and programs – local, state and federal (U.S.). Which have you found helpful?
T4: What additional consumer, patient advocacy and disease-specific groups have helpful resources and programs?
T5: What advice would you give someone who is not “connected”? Are there magazines / articles / books / other you’d recommend?
T6: If you could improve the support available, what would you want to see – from practices, health systems, gov, groups?

We hope to see you Friday, July 22nd on Twitter (or tchat.io/rooms/patientchat) at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern. Be sure to include the hashtag #patientchat in all your responses! Click HERE to learn more about our Empowered #patientchat Series and how to participate.
