September 16, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

READ FULL TRANSCRIPT

For our September Empowered Patient Chats, we’ve picked a pair of Stanford Medicine X presentation topics to dive into. Note: You can sign up for the MedX livestream HERE.

On the 16th we’ll cover Mental Health and Chronic Disease inspired by this panel of familiar and fabulous patient advocates: http://medicinex.stanford.edu/conf/conference/event/705

Guiding our discussion will be the following Topic (T:) Questions:

T1: What was your initial reaction to receiving a chronic diagnosis? sadness/anger/relief/etc?
T2: Did you seek emotional support right away, not until later, haven’t formally sought it out?
T3: What things do you find helpful in reducing stress and building resilience? What are some resources?
T4: A chronic diagnosis can mean living w/ an acute sense of uncertainty. How have you adjusted in the face of this?
T5: Where are your “safe spaces” to share how you are really doing? Tips on finding and building such spaces?
T6: How can doctors and the healthcare system better incorporate mental health into chronic disease management?

We hope to see you Friday, September 16th on Twitter (or tchat.io/rooms/patientchat) at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern. Be sure to include the hashtag #patientchat in all your responses! Click HERE to learn more about our Empowered #patientchat Series and how to participate.
