Join us for a “pop-up” Empowered Patient Chat where patient advocate Martin Lemieux (@martin_lemieux) will chat with us about using awareness days to promote your health cause. He’ll also share information about the upcoming World Thrombosis Day (October 13th) and how several organizations are collaborating to raise awareness globally.

MartinMartin has suffered for over 23 years with multiple rare vascular diseases, including; Factor V Leiden (Blood Clotting Hereditary Illness), Livedoid Vasculopathy, Chronic Venous Ulcers and PTS (Post Thrombotic Syndrome). Martin is currently the Patient Ambassador for Thrombosis Canada and also the Founder & President of Clots Matter (www.ClotsMatter.ca) – Building Canadian Patient Advocates, One Clot Story at a Time.

Guiding our discussion will be the following Topic (T:) Questions:

T1: How have you used awareness days/weeks/months to further your health cause? What do you view as some successful campaigns?
T2: What have you learned as you’ve tried to build momentum around an awareness day?
T3: What are some tips for working with the media? For identifying groups to collaborate with?
T4: What are some special considerations when trying to plan a global campaign?
T5: What types of resources/content have you found to be the most helpful when you’ve gotten involved with a health day?
T6: What are some of the potential drawbacks and limitations to health awareness days?
T7: How do you sustain cause momentum after the event? How can you move awareness into education and action?

Patient Chat Pop Ups are held at varying days and times, usually once per month. “Regular” chats are generally held every other Friday at 1:00pmET.
