You’re Invited! Join Empowered Patient Chat (@patientchat) and the Coalition for Clinical Trials Awareness (@CCTAwareness) for a special Tweet Chat during Clinical Trials Awareness Week where we’ll explore how digital media can be used to increase the awareness of and participation in clinical trials.
Clinical Trials Awareness Week is hosted annually by the Coalition for for Clinical Trials Awareness whose mission is to advocate for the creation of a federally sponsored public awareness campaign to increase the public’s understanding of the benefits of clinical trials. A lack of patient awareness of clinical trials leads to a lack of participation, which in turn leads to delays and higher costs. Increasing patient awareness of clinical trials will lead to greater participation and patients gaining access to new therapies. Visit the Clinical Trials Awareness Week 2017 site to learn more.
The Empowered Patient Chat Series brings together patients and advocates to learn from each other and discuss topics of interest to empowered patients. Our #CTAW2017 discussion will cover:
T1: How have you seen digital and social media being used to advance public health initiatives? Examples? Likes and dislikes?
T2: What types of online resources are most impactful in advancing clinical trials? What are some good disease-specific resources?
T3: How might digital communities be leveraged to increase clinical trial awareness and enrollment?
T4: What are the challenges in engaging and activating patients in the clinical trials process through digital and social media?
T5: How does the prevalence of mobile devices factor into increasing engagement with clinical trials?
T6: How might research orgs and patient advocacy groups partner to share resources and raise clinical trial awareness? Examples?
Regularly scheduled Empowered Patient Chats (#patientchat) are held every other Friday at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern. Click HERE to learn more about the Empowered #patientchat Series plus read tips on how to participate.
